Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Agus Setiawan, S.T., M.T., IPM

Lecturer

Dr. Agustinus Agus Setiawan was born in Semarang. Agus completed his bachelor's degree in civil engineering at Soegijapranata Catholic University Semarang. He received a Masters in Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology, with a concentration in Structural Engineering. Further, he received his Doctorate from Tarumanagara University, with research in Artificial Intelligence Methods on non-cement geopolymer concrete materials. Agus also has the professional title of Intermediate Professional Engineer (IPM). After graduating from undergraduate school, Agus served as a permanent lecturer at his alma mater university for approximately 9 years, until 2008. After being involved in the construction world at a national structural contractor and consultant company for almost 3 years, Agus decided to return to the world of education as a full faculty member at Universitas Pembangunan Jaya.

Agustinus' research interests focus on the innovation and enhancement of concrete technology, especially in geopolymer concrete, its mechanical properties, and sustainable practices. His publications extensively explore the influence of natural and industrial waste materials—such as coconut fiber, eggshell powder, marble waste, and seashells—on the compressive and tensile strength, workability, and density of geopolymer concrete mixtures. His work also includes predictive modeling of concrete strength using statistical and machine learning methods, alongside structural performance analysis of existing buildings using techniques like pushover analysis. Furthermore, Agustinus has actively contributed to community-based research, including revitalizing historical libraries and improving environmental conditions in educational settings, highlighting a holistic approach to civil engineering that balances technical innovation with social and environmental sustainability.
